those who have spoken to me about my anime opinions are probably pretty familiar with my take on season one of oshi no ko. i frequently refer to it as "oshi no mid" for obvious reasons: i think it was just kind of okay. there were some episodes i liked, but they were intersperesed by episodes i didn't really care about. if i remember correctly, i mostly didn't like the episodes that focused on ruby, but i could be wrong about that because i remember being interested in that plotline. it's also possible that i just didn't really like aqua's character and didn't like the rest of the show so much because of it. maybe i just need to rewatch it, but my main point is that i felt that it fell off HARD after the first episode.

however, season two is not shaping up to be that way.

aqua if he was really cool (he's actually really fucking edgy)

though we are only 5 episodes into oshi no ko season two at the moment, i REALLY like what they've been doing. i think focusing a bit on the manga industry has been massively beneficial for my interest in the plot, as it takes time to do a lot of actually thoughtful commentary on that industry and how it interacts with other industries like theater. i don't really care about/relate to the idol or acting industries, so this was a really nice change of pace from season one. they also make the theater stuff interesting; learning about the various processes that go into scriptwriting and preparing a performance is really cool.

they also do some interesting stuff with aqua in these episodes. they focus in on his personal struggles since [SEASON ONE EPISODE ONE EVENT], and the way they portray this is really well done. and yes, it is a realistic depiction of a panic attack in media, but it's just so fucking cool the way they visually show his emotions and conflict. it's really promising for the rest of this season and however many more there end up being.

in a disgusting and horrifying turn of fate, oshi no ko is truly the only show i actually look forward to watching each week this season. nokotan is okay, but it lacks much of a point and is not funny enough to exist without having some amount of plot and dealing with its subtitles is miserable. i plan to eventually watch the code geass show but i have to watch the recap movies and re;surrection to watch that :(. the other show i'm watching is senpai wa otokonoko, and i've only got two epsiodes deep because i think the way they've been portraying things so far is uncomfortable at best and creepy at worst. my opinion on that may change with time, as i will be finishing it at some point.

well that's all for tonight. i actually haven't been watching as much anime as normal due to various reasons but i think i might actually be a bit burned out because i've watched over seven days of anime in the past two months. see you all
