so i've been playing a lot of pstwo guilty gear over the last few days with a dear friend of mine and it has been a blast. i've never really been one for traditional fighters as i much prefer platform fighters (particularly, rivals of aether). however, i've had the opportunity lately to go back in time to the early two thousands and play a nice little bit of guilty gear and i never realized what i was missing out on.

this is probably guilty gear x lmao or one of them

i grew up playing street fighter two on an arcade cabinet, but i never really understood what was happening or how to play. i didn't know what combos were, i didn't know what special moves were, and i definitely didn't know how to read or apply any strategy to it. however, this game has been so awesome for my fighting game experience because it's fast-paced and really easy to pick up. since i have basic knowledge of fighting games at this point, it's been pretty easy and fun to simply learn how to string certain things together, figure out specials, and not get my ass brutally kicked immediately every game. i think i spent two and a half hours straight today playing and it was wonderful.

i think a large part of what's been making the experience so fun is the fact that we're playing on a real pstwo on a crt television.

what a shitbox setup holy shit just imagine a crt in a closet on a plank of wood and consoles above for the blind folk

it's shoved in the back of my closet, which i think really adds to the experience. we're going to try to play melty blood soon which should be fun if only for the fact that i've been watching a lot of garden of sinners lately. even if i think garden of sinners is not that great, this should be really fun.

something about them is just really charming. there's no buffer as far as i can tell so it's precise and difficult, which is to its benefit. i really love the pstwo pixel graphics, it's really fun. i just enjoy that i'm able to still enjoy things from the two thousands. i hold more nostalgia for then than any other period because i remember it well. though i never got to be part of this stuff at it's peak, i think it's really cool that i'm able to appreciate it in my own way.

well that's all for tonight. i actually haven't been PLAYING as much FIGHTING GAME as normal due to various reasons but i think i might actually be a bit REALLY EXCITED because i've NEVER over ENJOYED TRADITIONAL of FIGHTING GAME in the past EVER months. see you all
