howdy one and all and welcome back to the lego jujutsu blog after a few weeks of absence. today, i'm going to talk about something extremely important to me. that thing is

the sauce

so all of you dear lego jujutsu kaisen fans might be wondering. what the fuck is the sauce, lego jujutsu kaisen. well sit down and buckle up because i'm gonna preach the fucking gospel here.

as those who know me are well aware of, i have a lot of strong opinions on the media i consume. i am very particular about the way i rate things, and i like to get pretty granular in this bitch with my rating scale. i used to rate things in intervals of 0.1, but i changed to intervals of 0.5 after i got tired of trying to order everything exactly. generally, my ratings work like so (i'm breaking my numbers rule for this post for the sake of readability):

where the sauce comes into play here is that fine line between good and great: between 7.5 and 8. it's a pretty simple rule: if something has the sauce, it's great, and if it doesn't but it's still really good, it's good.

things that find themselves in my "great" tier all have something that set them apart from most things in addition to being really good. things that aren't afraid to get experimental and succeed have the sauce. things that tackle topics that are rarely talked about have the sauce. things that get weird (in a good way) have the sauce. things that have an emotional impact in ways few things do have the sauce. but most importantly, things that have the sauce have the sauce. the sauce is all about the feeling that works have when they are clearly set apart from the rest of the pack. sometimes it can be hard to tell when something has the sauce, but i think most things make it abundantly clear.

there's also (kind of) degrees to the sauce. something that kind of has the sauce is probably somewhere in the 8 - 8.5 range, but works that REALLY have the sauce are usually in the 9 - 9.5 range.

i don't even think the sauce applies correctly to 10/10s though. in my mind, something that i rate a 10 is exponentially so far above a 9.5 that it and the sauce can't even be spoken about in the same breath. the sauce is for mortal works to cook with. 10s, on the other hand, are works that cook with the nectar of the gods; their product a delightful ambrosia that would bring tears to the eyes of any seasoned chef. i don't hand out 10s for nothing. there are four works that i rate a 10/10: MONSTER, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the third Madoka Magica movie, and Homestuck. i know that last one stands out but just trust me there is nothing out there that can accomplish what it does in the way it does it. 10s are the work of geniuses and mental patients alike. i hope the next time i encounter a 10/10 is soon.

thanks for reading. you should feel lucky that i've blessed you with knowledge of the sauce. see ya probably. -lego jujutsu kaisen
