hey remember me? i'm back

short little post here. this is a dell hate post.

recently, my power supply in my home server, which used to be a dell gaming pc, finally decided to give out after two years of overheating, randomly crashing, running the fans at super high for no reason, and just not turning on if it was unplugged for too long. this happened purely because i had it unplugged for a day (and i honestly should have known better), but i finally had to replace it.

i fucking hate dell. i've had to do multiple other modifications to this pc before, such as installing new hard drives, adding an nvme drive (and a bracket to mount it because it was too short so i could save money), disconnecting the LEDs from the motherboard, routine cleaning, etc., but never have i had this much of a miserable time with this shit. i get they make it hard to remove the power supply because they don't want you to, but that's dumb and it sucked. i had to remove the back entirely to get it ro move at all because it was screwed into it, which like fine, but they made it so unbelievably annoying to remove the back.

what's worse is that once i finally got all of the shitty proprietary cables unplugged and the PSU removed, the new one only kind of fit behind the I/O shield and i do not own a dremel to grind it away. i had to use standoff screws and manage to shove the power cable in (and it's probably not as tight as it should be). shit sucks. rebuilding it was also super annoying.

but for some reason dell also decided to include a laptop dvd drive in this computer that doesn't take the standard SATA power connector, so i just can't use that now. i'm not too choked up about it but it's still really dumb.

that's literally all i'm just annoyed that their stock PSU was so ass and how irritating they make it to replace it. probably gonna sell the old PSU as scrap metal.

alright i'm gonna go eat some fuckin spicy chicken (for real now) -lego jujutsu kaisen
